Every conversation has the power to change a life.
That’s why we’re proud to offer OPEN Conversations — our free mental health training course designed to help you recognise the signs, respond with confidence, and support someone in crisis.
A recent SOS survey shows that 46% of 18–24-year-olds have been personally affected by suicide or know someone who has. (source) Across the UK, nearly one in three adults report a similar experience. This highlights the urgent need for action and open conversations before crisis points are reached.
Suicide is not just a statistic — it’s personal. Each number represents a person, a family, a community. By learning the skills to notice, engage, and connect, you can make a real difference.
OPEN Conversations is a free, self-paced mental health course designed to equip anyone, friends, family, colleagues, or community leaders, to support those who may be struggling. You don’t need to be a mental health professional.
You will learn to:
Observe – Notice subtle changes in someone’s mood, actions, or presentation
Pause – Take a moment to think ACE: Assumptions, Capacity, Environment
Engage – Start the conversation with empathy, not perfection
Navigate – Guide someone to the right support without taking over
It’s not about being an expert, it’s about being present.
This training isn’t just a course — it’s part of a broader cultural shift. Nearly half of young adults are impacted by suicide, yet conversations often stop short. OPEN Conversations equips people with practical skills, giving them the confidence to intervene early and compassionately.
By taking this course, you become part of a movement to:
Break the silence around suicide
